School Day Extended To Coincide With The Solar Eclipse

An afternoon snack will be provided to all students on this day.

Since the school day is being extended, students cannot be released at the regular time. If you choose to check your child out prior to 4:00 PM, the school must document the early sign out as a tardy. When the district extends a school day, we are required to extend it for all students in attendance that day. We appreciate your understanding of these attendance requirements.

The duration of the eclipse for Lincoln County is from 1:02 PM - 3:55 PM. The solar eclipse peak is predicted to be at 2:30 PM when the moon obscures 96.5% of the sun. The instructional day for Monday, August 21st will extend to 4:00 PM for all schools. Since prolonged viewing of a solar eclipse without eye protection can cause serious eye injuries, our goal is to ensure that students are not on school buses during the eclipse.

If you normally pick up your child, please adjust your pick up time by roughly one hour. If your student rides a bus, please be aware of their late arrival on this day.
