State assessment is changing, and playing its own part of the overhaul is the state assessment for science. It has taken a few years, but the new science assessment is underway. In February students at LCMS took part in Through Course Tasks (TCTs) as part of the formative assessment portion of the new state assessment system, and on March 15 seventh graders will complete the summative portion of the state test. During the week of March 13-17 students across the state in grades 4, 7, and 11 will be taking a field test of the updated state summative science assessment. Although students will not receive individual student reports and scores will not count towards school accountability for K-PREP, this field test will allow schools to get a peek at where summative state assessment is headed and begin preparing for implementation of the new assessment model.
