Students interested in attending EKU's Foster Music Camp have until May 1 to register online for the Early Bird Discount. Students in grades 6-8 are eligible for the middle school camp, and students in grade 8 could be eligible for the high school camp as well.
The music camp was started as a way for the EKU music department to increase participation in music programs in public schools as well as help produce more highly trained students who were prepared for the university experience. Middle schoolers and high schoolers are invited to EKU's campus where college faculty instruct them with lessons and provide them with performance experiences in instrumental and vocal music. Students are then able to leave the camp better able to improve their local school program, and high schoolers, in particular, can thus improve university programs. The camp staff are selected expressly because they not only have exceptional music skills, but they are are also proficient and patient in working with youth.
This year's middle school camp runs from June 11-16, and the different high school camps run from June 18-30. Click the links below to find out more about the camp and scholarships, to see sample schedules and camp descriptions, and register for the camp that best fits your needs.
