Operation Preparation took place on Thursday, March 23 at LCMS and was a great experience for everyone involved. Eighth graders met with volunteers from local business and industry, as well as special guests from state offices, to discuss colleges, career aspirations, and student performance.
LCMS staff and students extend their thanks to the community members that attended as well as Senator Rick Girdler and State Representative David Meade. Members from our Student Support Center and Board of Education, including former superintendent Karen Hatter, all leant their support to the event.
Deep and special thanks goes to Dr. Stephen Pruitt, Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner, who accepted the invitation to join in and met with students, teachers, and the volunteers for conversation and lunch. Dr. Pruitt showed distinct appreciation for the hard work of the students and tweeted praise for those in Mrs. Hill's life skills class who not only decorated for the event, but also prepared the food, served the guests, and cleaned up after the event. (You can follow Dr. Pruitt on @DrSPruitt on Twitter!)
Thanks again to all those who attended! We appreciate your visit and assistance in helping our students be high school, college, career, and citizenship ready!
