Lincoln County Schools would like to congratulate Laurissa Jarman, Kerynna Jarman, and Eli Pleasants on completing the 4-H Country Ham Project. Laurissa earned second place overall in her age division for combined ham and speech scores. Kerynna received a blue ribbon for her ham. Eli brought home the overall GRAND CHAMPION country ham award as the best of all 715 hams submitted! Eli’s ham will be displayed in Cloverville until the end of the State Fair!
To participate in this project, youth cured two hams over the course of 8 months. In addition to curing their own hams, they completed six hours of training and gave a speech about their ham at the Kentucky State Fair. Hams are judged on aroma, lean to fat ratio, and appearance.
If youth would like to participate in the 2018 4-H Country Ham Project, please contact 4-H Agent Courtney Brock at the Lincoln County Extension Office at 606-365-2447.
Way to go Eli, Laurissa, and Kerynna!
