Advisory Council

 November 24, 2014


The Lincoln County High School Advisory Council met in its regular scheduled meeting on November 24, 2014 the LCHS Media Center office. The meeting was called to order by principal, Tim at 4:00.

Opening Business

A. Agenda-The agenda was reviewed and there were no amendments.

B. Review minutes of October -The minutes were reviewed and no changes were necessary.

C. Good News Report- Joanna Stevens is now NBCT.  There have been two college signings so far.  Hunter Faulkner and Baleigh Lawson scored 32’s on the ACT.  Special Education passed their state review. 

D. Public Comment-None


Student Achievement

A.     Program Review Update-Writing- Dawn Day presented the 5 initiatives for the Writing Program Review. 

B.     Review of Arts and Humanities changes for 2014-2015 to align with KDE’s career pathways-Mrs. Griffin presented changes in A&H career pathways.  Art has no changes.  Band and Chorus classes will be changing and curriculum will be provided by state department.  These changes will take place in the 2014-2015 school year.


A.    Review SBDM Council Policies-Mr. Godbey provided new SBDM binders for council.  Every policy that has red highlighted on it will need to be reviewed.  Mr. Godbey plans to have entire handbook reviewed by the end of the school year.

B.     CSIP Updates-Parents, Teachers and student survey results have been returned. Mr.  Godbey and B.J. will be reviewing the data next week. All benchmarks have been met, 60% staff, 40% students, and 20% parents. 


Budget Report

  1. Review Financial Statements for October 2014-The finances for October were reviewed and there were no changes necessary. 


  1. Review of department feedback on Standards Based Grading-Mr. Godbey had advisory council review all summarized department information.  The council then found commonalities in the data. Mr. Godbey will be putting together a draft for the staff to look at in January.
