Arts in Appalachia

The local NEA Big Read Partnership is hosting an Arts in Appalachia event on Thursday, October 24th. The event will be held at the Lincoln County High School Auditorium. Open house for Lincoln County Middle School will start 5:30 PM followed by a live performance at 6:00 PM. Open house for LCHS will start at 6:30 PM followed by a live performance at 7:00 PM. There will be Appalachian food, artwork, quilts, and book reflection presented by students on the night of the event.

The premise of the event is based on the book “Burning Bright” by Ron Rash. All high school and middle school students received a copy and are participating in class activities involving the book.

The NEA Big Read partnership is intended to broaden understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. The NEA Big Read aims to inspire conversation and discovery through literature.

This free event is open to the public. All LCMS and LCHS families are encouraged to attend and see the work the students have invested into this event.
