SBDM Council

With the Education Reform Act of 1990, and related Kentucky law statutes, came an opportunity for teachers and parents to work together with administrators to make plans and decisions for local schools by serving on the school's Site-Based Decision Making Council. The Lloyd McGuffey site-based council is composed of two parents, three teachers and one principal. Decisions from establishing policies about field trips to consultation on hiring are guided by the council. Our council meetings are open to the public and governed by the Open Meetings Law. Our council is continually working to be sure that the children at the Lloyd McGuffey Sixth Grade Center have the best educational opportunities possible!

**SBDM Council Members 2015-16: Jimmy Dyehouse (Principal), Stacy Faulkner, Bill Srsic, & Ellen Owens (Teachers), and Alisha Gooch & Diana Lane (Parents).

Regular Monthly Meetings: Last Tuesday of the month @ 4:00pm in the Library
Special called Meetings: As needed, announced in the local newspaper or notice posted on the school doors.

The SBDM Council makes decisions about the following:

  • curriculum
  • instruction and instructional materials
  • assignments of students and space
  • master schedule
  • discipline and classroom management
  • extracurricular programs and policies
  • procedures, consistent with board policy, for determining alignment with state standards, use of technology, and program evaluation
  • school budget
  • School Improvement Plan (SIP)

The school council sets policies, but the principal continues day-to-day operation and management of the school.
