On Wednesday afternoon, November 4, 2015, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Ms. Debbie Sims, principal of Lincoln County Middle School, discovered the statement “Kill everybody 11-5-15” written in the girl’s downstairs lobby restroom of the middle school. District officials, along with local law enforcement, immediately investigated the incident and proceeded to consult with multiple public officials.
After thoughtful consideration, the decision was made to keep school open and in session on Thursday, November 5th. However, to ensure the protection of students and staff, both local and state law enforcement will be present in the school throughout the day. “We want everyone in the community to know that we take this incident very seriously,” Mrs. Hatter stated, “however, this certainly appears to be an example of copycat behavior since a similar incident occurred over the weekend at Crab Orchard Elementary School and within the city of Stanford. This has been a difficult decision to make and realize that some guardians may feel uncomfortable sending your student to school. If that is the case, we certainly understand."
