2016 District Spelling Bee Winner

Congratulations to Emery McDowell, a 5th grader  from Crab Orchard Elementary, for winning the District Spelling Bee on February 22, 2016. The Lincoln County Spelling Bee was held at the Board of Education on February 22nd with eight participants representing eight of our schools. These students competed for the chance to represent Lincoln County Public Schools at the state level.  In order to be declared the winner, the student had to correctly spell the word missed as well as a new word. The winning words were "jerkily" and "warrant". McDowell successfully completed that challenge and will advance to the state competition, Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee, on March 5 in Louisville. We would like to thank Lincoln County Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and representative Melinda Pence for monetary donations for our spelling bee winners.
