The Lincoln County Board of Education approved a 2% raise for all employees and overhauled the salary schedule for administrators, after making adjustments to resolve gaps in their salary schedule. The Lincoln County School District’s certified pay rate currently ranks 145th out of 173 school districts in Kentucky. The Phase II Salary Increase brings their ranking to 128th. The Phase II Salary Increase takes effect for the 2019-2020 school year.
Employees for Lincoln County Schools have not received a raise since the state mandated 2% raise in 2015-16. Last year the Lincoln County Board of Education adopted board goals, one of which was to attract, recruit, and retain high-quality administrators, teachers and staff through salary increases.
Superintendent Michael Rowe states that the District has made a number of difficult decisions which have ultimately placed the school district in a position to express our commitment to our employees; all employees. “The salary committee evaluated surrounding school districts’ salaries and made recommendations to address the deficiencies. We want our employees to know we value them, we value their hard work, and we want our employees to stay at Lincoln County Schools. Staff retention has been an issue in this district since I came on board and I am excited to work for a Board who understands the value experienced staff bring to student learning. In order to be the best, we must have a progressive vision. Our new Board is committed to making Lincoln County Schools the best.”
The salary committee is working on a five-year plan to present to the Lincoln County Board of Education to ensure employees are compensated equitably as the District progresses in its mission to provide the best education for students.
