STANFORD, KY – November 14, 2019
Crab Orchard Elementary School has hired Deborah Charalambakis to fill the position of school counselor. Mrs. Charalambakis started her role with the school on Monday, November 11th.
Charalambakis is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she received a B.A. in Social Work and a Master of Social Work Degree. She joins Crab Orchard Elementary from Woodford County Schools and Scott County Schools. She has an extensive background working with organizations that help with extreme poverty, world hunger, human trafficking and victims of abuse and sexual violence.
Mrs. Charalambakis said, “My role will be to serve our staff, and most of all, our kids. I know there is a lot of brokenness they bring into the building; my prayer and vision as a counselor is to make sure that all the kids in the building feel loved, advocated for and cared for by meeting their needs not only on an academic level but on an emotional and psychological level as well.”
“I know everyone is thinking it’s extremely intimidating and difficult to pronounce my last name,” Charalambakis jokingly said. “But I promise you it’s not. The C is silent, and it’s pronounced ‘har-lim-bah-kiss,’ don’t let the C fool you! It’s totally fine to just go with Mrs. Deb too.“
Mrs. Charlambakis office is located at Crab Orchard Elementary. You can contact her there at 606.355.2331 or via email at Deborah.firstname.lastname@example.org.
