Students interacting with students in Italy

Buongiorno!

Crab Orchard Elementary 4th and 5th grade students enrolled in the school’s 21st Century Summer Explorations Academy had a surprise classroom visit from their Italian counterparts, broadcasting from Allesandria, Italy via Zoom this week.

The Italian students are enrolled in Pingu’s English School and were participating in a culminating activity for their Conversational English class. The students discussed and compared typical school experiences, daily life, their favorite things, and related to one another regarding living through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The session was set up by Mrs. Aggie Manion, former French teacher at LCHS, and current guidance counselor at COES.  The Italian cooperating teacher, Mrs. Julie Szybalski, and Mrs. Manion were exchange students with one another from their own high school days and have stayed close friends since.  Such a great way to broaden our perspectives and increase our understanding of one another!
