Superintendent Bruce Smith
Today is the first official day in the office for Superintendent Bruce Smith. There’s no better way to get to know our new Superintendent other than a special edition of #MeetTEAMLincoln!

1. What are you most excited about in starting your new position? 

ℹ️ To continue building both the instructional and leadership capacities of our staff. These are two of the most important responsibilities we have, because they yield the greatest returns on student learning.

2. How do you spend your free time? 

🌆When I have free time, I enjoy being at home with family.  I also enjoying traveling, sightseeing, and eating out.

3. What is your favorite food? 

🌮 My mother is an excellent cook! My favorite foods are good homemade meals or Mexican food.

4. What is the best book you’ve ever read? 

📕 One of my favorite books is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.

5. What is your favorite movie?  

🎥 Titanic

6. If you could pick one place to visit on vacation, where would it be? 

🛫Alaska 

7. Who was your favorite teacher growing up? 

👩‍🏫I have too many teachers who have made an impact on my life to name just one.

8. What are some of your goals for the district as Superintendent?

·      To engage all stakeholders in establishing a clearly defined vision that will improve student performance.
·      To set high expectations for all students and close achievement gaps.
·      To ensure that all teachers, administrators, classified staff, and school board members are involved in our improvement process.
·      To ensure that we are implementing quality, research-based programs and strategies in our classrooms, and monitoring student progress to determine if changes in the curriculum need to occur.
·      To examine the current salary schedule and redouble our efforts on the recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers and staff.
·      To ensure that we are collecting data and developing new processes or updating outdated ones.
·      To engage parents and caregivers because they are an essential part of the educational process.
·      To ensure our schools are safe and optimize outcomes through increased student engagement.
·      To ensure resources are being allocated equitably to maintain effective programs.
·      To expand our dual credit program.
·      To ensure that our staff have all the tools they need to be successful.
·      To continue expanding the school resource officer program with our local law enforcement partners.
·      To begin addressing the needs in our current facility plan.
 
9. If you could make one rule in life, that everyone had to follow, what would it be?  

😊 To be respectful and trustworthy and always treat others as you would like to be treated.

10. Do you wear red on Friday? 

🔴 Red is always a very important color!  Go Patriots!
