New 4-H Club at LCHS Holds Service Marathon

by: Koral Ranck (LCHS senior)

Lincoln County High School’s 4-H Service Club held a service marathon after school on Tuesday, September 12th. Students met after school and used donated, old t-shirts to create the dog-chew toys. In order to do this, they cut the t-shirts into strips, about an inch thick, then knotted, and braided three of those strips together, knotting the other end as well. They created three of these pieces and tied them together using a smaller strip of t-shirt. Students then braided those pieces together, tying the other end together as well. The service marathon lasted from after school until 7 p.m. and within this event, there were over 30 students in attendance.

One participant, Koral Ranck, a senior at LCHS and 4-H alum said, “4-H has had an immeasurable positive impact on me, and I will always be grateful for what it provides to not only me, but children and people all over the world. I’ve been involved since I was able to be involved. Over the years, it has given me so many amazing opportunities to serve our community as well as other’s and ‘make the best better’.” Through this event, members were able to make over 130 dog toys that will be donated to local animal shelters. These toys will be greatly appreciated by both the staff and animals within the shelters. The community also greatly appreciates these students’ hard work.
