The Lincoln County Board of Education approved a raise for all employees for the 2024-2025 school year at tonight’s board meeting. Certified staff (Ranks I,II and III) will receive a 7% raise and classified staff will receive a minimum of a $1 per hour raise.
“With this raise, our certified pay would have increased around 15 percent since the 2019-20 school year when I started,” said Finance Director Lee Ann Smith. “We have made great strides to catch up to neighboring districts, which was a goal of mine when I stepped into this position.”
In addition to the 15% increase certified staff has seen since the 2019-20 school year, custodian pay has increased by 27%, cook pay by 32%, bus driver pay by 24%, maintenance pay by 20%, bookkeeper pay by 21% and instructional assistant pay by 21% in that same time period.
Highlights of the monumental raises include:
• 7% raise for certified staff (Ranks I, II and III)
• 4% raise for certified staff (Rank IV)
• 2% raise for certified staff (Rank V)
• $1/hour raise for classified staff (at a minimum)
• Increase of stipends for athletic coaches
• 30 year category to reward employees who reach that level of service for both certified & classified
This will mark the 4th straight year of raises for both certified staff and classified staff. “This is a huge step forward for the district,” said Superintendent Bruce Smith. “This not only rewards our dedicated staff for their hard work, but it also allows us to hopefully attract the best candidates for our vacant positions. I am thankful our board realizes that recruiting and retaining great staff members is a major key to a successful school district.”
The raises will be reflected on the 2024-25 salary schedule which goes into effect July 1st, 2024.
