📢 PRESS RELEASE: Lincoln County Schools Delays Start of School Until September 8th

Lincoln County Schools will delay the first day of school until Monday, September 8, 2025, due to unforeseen conditions discovered during the ongoing renovation project at Lincoln County High School. The last day of school for students will now be May 27th, 2026. The decision comes after construction crews encountered unexpected structural issues that require immediate attention to ensure the safety of students and staff.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the patience and support of our families and community as we work diligently to resolve these issues,” said Bruce Smith, Superintendent of Lincoln County Schools. “We are very excited about the improvements being made for our students and staff and look forward to completing the project as soon as possible.”

The high school is undergoing a major renovation project this summer. Phase one of the project includes new flooring, ceilings and lighting in the hallways and lobbies. The student bathrooms are being completely renovated along with repairs to some floors, the roof and masonry walls. The school is also receiving a new intercom system and a gym renovation. The project was made possible due to funding received from the General Assembly to be used for upgrades, renovations and enhancements to district facilities.

The revised academic calendar reflecting the new start date was approved at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. Please visit our website, lincoln.kyschools.us (http://lincoln.kyschools.us/), to view the calendar
