Board Votes to Approve Bids on Phase 2 of LCHS Renovation Project
At tonight’s special called meeting, the Lincoln County Board approved bids for Phase Two of the Lincoln County High School renovation project.

This next phase includes:
✅ A new and safer high school front entrance plaza with concrete work
✅ Turf infields for both baseball and softball fields
✅ An addition to the football field house to better serve students and athletes

"During the first phase, we focused primarily on the interior of the building," said Superintendent Bruce Smith. "We have many needs and felt it was important to also address outdoor spaces and athletic facilities."

The football field house, built in 1996, now serves as both an athletic facility and a classroom. The planned expansion will create more room for weight training and academic use, helping meet the space demands during the school day.

The baseball and softball fields will receive turf infields while maintaining natural grass outfields, improving both playability and maintenance. The baseball stadium will also be adding bathrooms. Currently portable units were used during the season.

The new main entrance will feature updated steps and concrete work, offering a safer, more inviting entryway to the school.

Phase One of the project is progressing well. The delay caused by the settlement issues have been resolved. “Our architectural and engineering team came together and gave us a plan to safely remedy the areas we had slab issues in,” said Superintendent Smith. Those areas have now fully been repaired and previously planned construction has resumed in the impacted areas.

The project was made possible due to funding received from the General Assembly to be used for upgrades, renovations and enhancements to district facilities. SFCC Offers of Assistance were also utilized.
