Lincoln County Schools will be implementing some changes to the current COVID-19 protocols based on the “Guidance for K-12 School Operations for In-Person Learning” issued today by the State of Kentucky. These changes will ensure that more students will be able to stay in school for in-person learning. The biggest change is asymptomatic students and staff who are considered to be close contacts will no longer be quarantined for at-school exposures.
1. Face coverings are now optional at all of our facilities and on school buses.
2. Vaccinated and unvaccinated students and staff that are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms:
•Get tested as soon as possible. If positive, isolate for five (5) days. Positive cases that are still experiencing symptoms after five (5) days should isolate for an additional five (5) days (10 days total).
•All students and staff should immediately notify the Lincoln County School contact tracers if they test positive for COVID-19.
•Face coverings are recommended for a full 10 days while indoors.
3. Quarantining (At-school and Home Exposures):
•Asymptomatic students and staff who are considered to be close contacts will no longer be quarantined for at-school exposures.
•In-home exposures will receive their quarantine guidelines from the health professionals that performed their test or the local health department.
4. Baseline Prevention Strategies:
•Please stay home if you are sick.
•Continue to practice proper hygiene and cleaning.
•Students and staff are encouraged to stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccinations.
•Individuals who are sick should be tested for COVID-19. If positive, follow the latest CDC guidelines.
