ATTENTION!!! Face masks now optional
The Lincoln County Board of Education voted on Thursday, November 18th to make face coverings optional for all staff and students at Lincoln County Schools. This action will immediately went into effect.
Face coverings will still be required on school buses due to the federal mandate for public transportation. Face coverings will also still be required for students at the Lincoln and Garrard Technology Centers due to the state mandate.
The decision to make masks optional is due to the decline in cases in the county, the decline in the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate and the ability for all staff and students ages 5 and up to now have access to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Face coverings are still recommended for visitors, staff and students while indoors but are no longer required. The district will continue to use other mitigation tools such as social distancing (when possible) and good hygiene to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Next week, Highland Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with a week full of dress up days! Red Ribbon Week is a great opportunity for us to open up the conversation with our students about the effects drug and alcohol use has on their families/friends. Each day that a student dresses up they are entered to win a prize.

Scholastic Book Fair will start next week April 26th-April 30th! I'm sending home the preview flyer today as well as an information sheet. Students will have the ability to shop the book fair during their specials time each day. Due to COVID-19 restrictions parents will not be able to shop with their student(s) as we have done in the past. Tomorrow is Red day!
Highland teachers will wear red tomorrow in support of public education. Students are welcome to join with teachers to show their support for public schools by wearing red Wednesday March 24th, 2021.

On Monday March, 8th we will welcome back our in person students. If you haven't communicated with your teacher about your decision for the fourth nine weeks, please call the school by Friday March 5th. Parent pick up students must have a car tag before they will be released in the parent pick up line. If you have not picked up your car tag, please do so as soon as possible.
