If a student wants a retake they have to have student/guardian note requesting the retake on Oct 25.

Veteran's Day is November 11th. This year we are creating a Wall of Heroes and a Remembrance Wall for those service members no longer with us to honor our veterans past and present. If you would like to add a picture to either wall, please send a photo copy to school with your student (turn them in to either office), email a photo (melissa.hoover@lincoln.kyschools.us or cindy.bryant@lincoln.kyschools.us), or upload a photo to this post with their name and branch in the military. Also let us know which wall the picture should go on. This is just a small token of our appreciation for all the heroes. The deadline to turn in your photo is November 3rd. If you have any questions, please contact the school at 365-8400.

Flu shots will be given on Oct 16 at LCMS for those that previously signed a consent form. Students that are absent on this day will be scheduled for a makeup.

Please help us maintain the educational environment and overall safety of students by encouraging your child to follow school policies regarding cell phones. Not only is it best practice, it is recommended by top safety officials.
"Jon Akers, director of the Kentucky Center for School Safety, has written an on-line essay calling on school systems to prohibit students from having cell phones in their possession during school hours (go to www.kysafeschools.org). He presents an iron-clad argument to the effect that student cell phones are not just unnecessary but also contribute to bullying, underachievement, sexual harassment, numerous disciplinary issues, including cheating, and even criminal activity. It goes without saying that they are one more distraction to a generation that is already suffering from distraction overload." St Augustine Record

LCMS Policy:
CELL PHONES/ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Lincoln County Middle School supports the need for students to use electronic devices and their need to communicate with parents while at school through our 1:1 chromebook program. Due to concerns over cyber bullying and inappropriate online behavior at school, all personal technology devices not managed by the school or district must remain in backpacks throughout the entire school day. This protocol is not based on one incident - but a host of issues that show a need for changes for the purposes of student safety and wellbeing. Personal technology devices that are not district managed are not permitted for use from the tardy bell at 8:05am to the dismissal bell at 3:10pm. Students can still contact their parents through email and the use of their chromebook throughout the school day.
Failure to comply with this protocol or administrative and teacher directions for cell phones and personal technology will result in disciplinary actions and temporary confiscation of the device.
The discipline progression for cell phones and personal technology devices is outlined below:
1st Offense - Student warning, teacher confiscates for class period and noted on strike sheet
2nd Offense - Teacher will confiscate the phone and turn it into the office. The student can pick up the phone after 3:10pm from the front office.
3rd Offense - Teacher will confiscate phone and turn it into the office, the phone must be picked up by a parent or guardian
4th Offense - Teacher will confiscate phone and turn it into the office, the phone must be picked up by a parent or guardian AND a detention will be assigned.
5th Offense and above - Teacher will confiscate phone and turn it into the office, the phone must be picked up by a parent or guardian AND a Thursday school (2.5 hours) will be assigned.

LCMS Families, this is Principal Burnett. We are safe at the middle school and are remaining in lock down due to a threat at the high school that is being investigated. More info about dismissal will be coming soon. Please do not call the middle school, as we need to keep the lines open and follow guidance from law enforcement.
